Decision-driven 3D visual novel

The Wreck is a highly immersive visual novel that allows players to choose the direction that the story will take based on their decisions. It features the protagonist Junon and is embedded with feelings of grief, loss, and transformation. This high-stakes simulation game represents just as much of a personal journey as it involves narrative-driven RPG gameplay.

Much like other well-received games, such as John Doe, the outcome of The Wreck is entirely driven by player choices. Therefore, everyone can enjoy an entirely unique experience, and many events will come as a bit of a surprise.

A life in disarray

This story centers around a screenplay writer named Junon. After having experienced a number of setbacks, she is confronted with the news that her mother has been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. Thereafter, she must make a series of crucial life decisions, especially since she has been appointed as the one in charge of her mother’s hospital care—through the forging of her signature on the documents, no less.

The Wreck will require players to examine the past in order to appreciate the present and potentially change the future. It spans numerous timelines, helping to provide an additional sense of emotional depth to the overall storyline. The flashbacks happen in a series after the first time Junon crashes her car, each of which will be triggered by the objects from her bag flying out of impact.

Gripping visuals and voice acting

The ultimate goal of the game is to provide Junon with the ability to appreciate the lighter side of life while simultaneously coming to grips with elements of tragedy. It places a great deal of focus on interesting concepts, such as emotional transformation and personal growth. The story is presented with well-drawn and high-quality graphics reminiscent of a movie’s storyboard, which is quite thematic as the protagonist is a screenplay writer.

At the same time, the game features stellar voice acting, with all lines fully dubbed in English. This aspect immerses the player further into Junon’s world and memories, allowing for a better understanding of her trauma. However, the transition between the scenes may seem too jarring for players with motion sickness. Concurrently, the game tackles serious issues like toxic relationships and self-harm, which can be triggering for some.

Compelling plot that tackles serious issues

With a compelling and poignant storyline that will surely appeal to the player’s emotions, The Wreck can be compared to other visual novels, particularly in terms of its entrancing graphics and beautifully constructed cutscenes. Its narrative-driven gameplay is also ideal for those who like being heavily involved in how the outcomes turn out to be. Although, it must be noted that the game features serious topics like self-harm and toxic relationships, so players must play it with caution.
